Dine with Disney at Oh My Cafe in Japan: The Little Mermaid

Feast Under the Sea in The Little Mermaid pop up cafe from Disney’s Oh My Cafe series in Japan!

Oh My Cafe is a chain of cafes in Japan that hosts official themed cafe experiences based off of different Disney properties for limited times. The cafe boasts the same name as the popular Oh My Disney website, the official Disney blog, and the cafe is likewise owned by Disney. Right now, the cafe is decked out in The Little Mermaid theme in celebration of the film’s 30th anniversary this year!

Previously, Oh My Cafe had an Aladdin Cafe and Toy Story 4 Cafe theme, both in conjunction with the release of those movies in Japan. Oh My Cafe has locations in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Sapporo!

Because each theme of the cafe is so limited, a reservation is absolutely necessary to dine in. You can do so at their reservation site here. I recommend following the directions here for how to sign up, as the system is all in Japanese and it’s a little difficult to understand.

The Harajuku, Tokyo branch of Oh My Cafe has a spacious, lavishly decorated interior, complete with a view of the city below from the windows. There is also a store located in the front of the cafe for cute exclusive goods! Here are photos of the menu with prices, and some of the goods below, but you can see a complete list here.

The food and drinks are adorable, if a little pricey, but you’re paying for a luxury themed experience! The cafe doesn’t have alcoholic drinks, but there are cute smoothies and coffee options for both kids and adults. All guests receive their choice of clear file folder when they arrive, as well as can keep the coasters that come with their drink items.

REVIEW:
I visited the Harajuku, Tokyo location recently, and had a wonderful time! The food took about 20 minuted to come out, which I was warned about when I first sat down. This level of kawaii food takes time to make!

I chose the Daughters of Triton set, which featured spreads of egg salad, pesto tomato, cream cheese, and strawberries and cream on baguettes. I also really enjoyed the Sebastian strawberry float! It looks a little small in the photos, but I was stuffed by the end of the meal!

The decor was also very cute, and hearing The Little Mermaid music in Japanese brought tears to my little geek eyes. They were also playing clips of he movie on a projection against the wall. The space is very new and clean, with colorful wooden chairs, and a centerpiece decoration in the middle of the room featuring coral, pearls, paper streamers, and other aquatic items.

Overall, the service, food, and ambiance was really stellar, as expected of a Disney experience! The only thing that was missing from this place was an appearance by Ariel herself. But let’s be real, I would have settled for a dog that looked sort of like Prince Eric’s dog, Max. I highly recommend making time for this cafe if you will be in Japan!
