Gordon Ramsay and MasterChef Junior cast attempts World’s Largest Cupacake… well.. sort of..

26 Sep

Yesterday, I popped out to see the media event for MasterChef Junior at The Grove, which boasted that Gordon Ramsay himself and the cast were going to unveil the World’s Biggest Cupcake in an attempt at a Guinness world record.

There was a decent amount of media there, and crowd of tourists.

I guess the cupcake was supposed to be int his giant box??

Some members of the MasterChef Jr cast came out (And Dara wore my red Hello Kitty x Chubby Bunny bow! <3), with Gordon Ramsay popping out right after.

He gave a little speech thanking guests, then revealed that… oops… they tried to make a giant cupcake, baked it for 36 hours, then found it had been leaking and weren’t able to complete the cupcake….! How sad! Instead, he revealed a very tiny cupcake that they were able to salvage from the big one…

After the reveal, Gordon flicked it into the crowd… haha.

I snapped a quick photo of Dara during one of her interviews wearing the bow, but had to run after that…!

But not before grabbing one of the free Sprinkles cupcakes they gave to the crowd! Were they FOX-flavored? haha.

Hope you enjoyed that senseless Gordon Ramsay post. I love his shows, and am stoked to see the premiere of MasterChef Jr. tomorrow!

A Trip To Sugarpill HQ

28 Mar

This past week, I scooted up to San Francisco to help out at Sugarpill Cosmetics headquarters as they begin revving up for IMATS (The big makeup convention in June!!! 3 MONTHS AWAY!! WEE!) and fulfilling their ever growing orders! While most days were filled with being busy inevitable having our clothes covered in makeup, we managed to tear ourselves away to have some tasty snacks and meet up with friends 🙂

For the most part, I dressed like a hobo and didn’t bother with makeup that week, but on Saturday, we knew we had plans to meet up  with Tess, so I made some effort into dressing up a bit…!

For outfit breakdown, you can click the picture to go to my Lookbook site 🙂

On Saturday, Amy, Yume, and I took a break from work and met up with Tess for dinner at Fenton’s! I was the only one who had never been there before, so I was pretty amped to get a gigantic sundae like the one they have in Up (which Fenton’s was featured in at the end of the movie!).

Look! It's Doug!

I refused to order any real food, and just went for the “Fenton’s Special” sundae. Amy was disgusted when I asked, “So, if the sundae has a brownie it, it counts as dinner, right?” THAT’S HOW I ROLL.

Behold. The Fenton's Special.

About 15 minutes in, I started getting a case of the "wobbly eyes." That feeling when you're so full, it feels like the food is pushing behind your eyeballs and makes everything look sillier than usual.

Everyone else was more level headed than I, ordering a normal dinner, then adding on cute little sundaes at the end 🙂

Amy's super chocolate chocolate sundae with nuts! She looks very engrossed in devouring her ice cream...!

Tess' almond ice cream, with an extra banana and chocolate syrup, so fancy! True Mee got the pure almond ice cream minus the banana and chocolate. Super yummy!

Later that night we picked up Tess’ boyfriend, Nate, and fought the urge to stay indoors and watch cat videos (On animal Planet! It’s a real show! Crazy!) and ventured outside in the  crazy rainy weather to nip out to an Irish pub for a bit.

Amy, True Mee, Nate, and Tess ❤

This past Sunday, Amy had True Mee and I dress up in her Etsy clothes so she could take photos to upload to her site. I decided to make some more effort with my makeup this day and came up with this! All eye makeup listed is available at Sugarpill’s online shop!

Shadows
*Black brows and dusting on liner: Bullet Proof
*Shimmery Black: Stella
*Matte Purple: Poison Plum
*Shimmery Purple: Hysteric
*Matte white: Tako
Lashes: "Stormy"

Lips: "Anime" by OCC Liptars

It was really fun trying out a new look with my eyemakeup for once 🙂 I usually tend to get stuck in ruts and wear the same style of makeup over and over but I’m doing my best to experiment!

Later that night, we had a nice dinner at a sushi joint nearby. Hooray for sushi and sake! We ate like the little piggies we are.. hehe.

Yum! All the sushi...!!!

The most delicious oyster!

We... totally ordered too much. Oh well!

I felt like a king of the seas! Had a great time helping up at Sugarpill, and know it won’t be my last trip up there, as IMATS is ever more quickly approaching…!

I’m excited and scared! haha… You can see Amy’s official Sugarpill posts from last year’s IMATS here: Day 0, Day 1, Day 2. There are some HILARIOUSLY AWESOME photos of all of us there from last year, sleep deprived and insane, so it’s totally worth the giggle to check out 😉

Till next time!

Bunny Bites: Port-FOOD-landia

1 Feb

I love visiting Portland, Oregon to see my friends and enjoy the cold air and snow of a town with all four seasons, and by God, the food there makes the trip even more worthwhile!

I had asked you guys if you wanted to see more foodie reviews, and the answer was a very loud YES (or maybe more of a “LIKE” since people are all on Facebook these days). Well get ready to have your eyeball taste buds blown (they exist. Trust me on this one)!

SWIFT LOUNGE
My first afternoon in Portland, we hustled on over to Swift Lounge for their fantastic Happy Hour and.. FONDUUUUUE! It’s not often than a tiny dive bar sports the finesse of a fondue, but there it was!

Behold: Fondue fries! Delish cheesy fondue melt on top of crispy salted fries!

And of course, we got a pot of their fresh fondue! On a cold early evening, these totally hit the spot! Came with the usual cured meats, breads, and small fruits.

My friend Meeps ordered this suuuper yummy cheesy pasta. CHEESE IS THE WORD!

More deliciousness after the jump!

Bunny Bites: Delicious treats around LA with Star Light, Xoia Vietnamese Eats, Tsujita Ramen, Culver Hotel Bar, & homemade dishes!

8 Jan

I use the holidays as a lovely excuse to eat, get fat, and especially to be jolly. I had some really amazing food over the past few weeks that I’d like to share with everyone! If you’re in the area, I definitely recommend these awesome eating places!

STAR LIGHT
I LOVE me some down home pub-style Asian food, and I was really wanting to gather my friends together for a little pre-Christmas spicy food and booz-a-thon  at a shiny, neon-lit little place called Star  Light over in Koreatown! Star Light used to be another little restaurant that was remodeled recently with more lights and a cleaner atmosphere.  Another great plus about this place is that they have really killer karaoke rooms above that are very fancy with shiny lights, new equipment, and really decently cheap rates! I really recommend this place for people who love good old fashioned Korean comfort food and relaxing times with friends!

Eating buddies Eron, Will, and Tim! We got a wierd plate of nachos as part of the complimentary service before the meal was served.

Delicious budejjiga, or "military stew," cooked right at the table with lots of yummy and spicy ingredients. After you're done eating the stew, the staff pour in more hot water, then add ramen to the mix!

Some other yummy things we got that night!

True Mee and I, SMILING LIKE GLUTTONS! =D

More under the cut!

Korea Day 1 Continued: Cheese,Shopping, and Beer, Repeat.

3 Oct

So to continue our day from the last post!

We met up with our long lost buddies Liz and Nara at Sinchon station! It’s been ages since we’ve seen them… Hello Kitty Nerd party, I think??

We headed straight on over to CM Box for lunch, which is home of the AMAZING SCOOP CHEESE PIZZA THING. The pizza is in a little pan and it’s mostly cheese and other ingredients on top of a super thing crust )kind of like a flour tortilla?). We got a Camembert cheese pizza, and a sweet potato pizza. DELISH. We also split a plate of creamy seafood pasta and carbonara pasta, too… DROOL.

Camembert pizza comes with a random pentagram on it made with mayo. NICE.

Liz and Nara looking totally adorable ❤

In total contrast to this photo fo Will and I, where I'm holding a plate of pickles and forcing myself to have a double chin. I rule.

More on the day after the jump!

Japan Day 11/LAST DAY!: Koenji is my new love

8 Sep

After a pleasant bullet train ride, I made my way to Koenji to spend my last day in Japan with Tavuchi!

She was kind enough to let me stay at her place for one night before I headed back to America. She was pretty amped to show me more of her town and all the fun things to do. thankfully, it was a nicely overcast day where I wasn’t melting in the Tokyo heat for once!

As I mentioned before, Koenji is a great little place just 2 stops west of Shinjuku station on the JR Sobu line train. It’s calm and friendly, and sort of like not being in Tokyo at all!

Tavuchi helped me lug my heavy suitcase up her 3 flights of stairs to her apartment, and we prettied ourselves up a bit for a stroll through her hood. Tavuchi also blogged about our date day, too, so you can look at her post and pics there ❤

Before we left her place, I saw this amazing thing on her coffee table. Tavuchi said it was her roommates'.... IT'S AMAZING.

Our first stop wast to visit Tavuchi’s friend Toko (who I met on Day 3 in Japan), who runs the store Hikari in Koenji! Hikari is full of great vintage, remade, and original clothing from all over. It’s super quirky in there, I love it!

A mini shrine in the middle of the store. All of the photographs are either customers or Toko's friends she snapped while out and about.

Knickknacks and paddywacks galore!

How cute is Toko? She is giving us a proper farewell ❤

More of the day and pics after the jump!

Japan Day 10 & 11: Mostly food & Nostalgia, and GIRLS’ LIPS =0

4 Sep

On August 1st, I rolled my butt out of the fold out bed, tried to make my face not look like a melting mess, and set out for my full day of Osaka adventure by myself. Nicole had to work until the afternoon so I was on my own to visit my old haunts and be a creepy lady on the streets of Osaka until evening.

I hit up Namba and the Minami Osaka area first and worked my way north through all of the shops that I used to like to frequent.

Can't start the day without a proper breakfast. To the Chococro! The most delicious chocolate croissants ever! And of course, some sort of mystery mayonaise corn pizza kinda thing.

When I saw this, I first thought, oh my god it's THAT damn hot here that they'd want a -2 degrees celcius bar to hang out in?? WTF! Then, later, I found out that they meant the BEER was super cold. Not the room. HURR HURR.

This is super messed up, but I regret not getting these. FIRST OF ALL: ZIMA is still a thing in Japan. It has been sicne it came out, unlike its debut in the US where it came out, flopped, and was tagged the drink of losers. SECOND OF ALL: This is part of a new promotion, where each bottle comes with a set of lips. ACTUAL MOLDS OF MODELS' LIPS. They're rubber, and you put them around the mouth of the zima bottle. When you drink from it, it's as if YOU ARE KISSING THAT MODEL'S LIPS. How. Messed. Up. Is That. But I love it.

More insanity after the jump:
