My Glamorous Pony: Opening night of “My Little Pony Project: Los Angeles”

15 May

On Saturday, May 5th, the long awaited opening for the “My Little Pony Night Out” finally arrived! Sweet Streets curated the show for Hasbro and Mighty Fine which drew in hundreds of fans from all over! The event was tailored to My Little Pony crowds of old and new! Giant blank Ponies were sent out to artists all over the world to customize and sell for this show. Tons of my artist friends had pieces in the show, so I was super amped to see what they had come up with!

I went to the gallery on the Thursday before the opening to help with setup and go to clean pony butts and comb pony hair all afternoon. The ponies had been shipped in from all over the world, so they needed proper styling help and readjusting once they were situated on their pony pedestals. (Every word I am typing is getting more and more surreal to me as I go along, haha.) It was totally amazing.

Combing manes. No big deal.

Some photos of the AMAZING ponies that artists had customized. These pictures don’t even do them justice.

That afternoon we also stuffed some giftbags for the press night they were holding on Friday. These bags are normally available via Mightyfine.com’s site when you purchase a t-shirt. They’re enormous and so cute! Love that engineer-looking Rainbow Dash!

I’ve been waiting for a chance to do a fancy Princess Celestia cosplay ever since I started watching the Friendship is Magic version of My Little Pony, and this event was totally the perfect opportunity for it! So, I had been working my little hands off on my Gatsby dress, as well as the Hello Kitty Sephora dress, so making time for this dress was pretty stressful towards the end there..! It was my first time working with such gauzy chiffon material (and actually hemming it.. usually I’m lazy and just double it up or burn it haha), so it was a bit tricky at first but I got it!

Hello Kitty’s “Big Pink Bow” Collection at Sephora w/Chubby Bunny!

10 May

It’s been an exciting Hello Kitty-filled weekend! In addition to it being my birthday (more on that later!) the debut of my latest Hello Kitty creation occurred in New York on May 4th, for Hello Kitty’s Big Pink Bow collection launch event with Sephora!

For the event, I collaborated with Sanrio to make an adorable polka dot dress with hot pink accents, and a pop of gold jewelry for Ms. Kitty as well as provide a few hundred pink Hello Kitty x Chubby Bunny headband bows for Sephora models to wear while promoting the launch! Megan Hilty (of NBC’s SMASH) even joined in the fun at the event.

The pink puffy bows are available for purchase on my site at www.iamchubbybunny.com!

Girls wearing the Hello Kitty x Chubby Bunny bow and riding Hello Kitty bicycles cruised around New York City, promoting the Big Pink Bow event at Sephora! How cute are they?

Kisses from Hello Kitty and friends!

On Tuesday, May 8th, Hello Kitty traveled back to Los Angeles to do a promotional video for Sephora’s Big Pink Bow collection, and I was invited, along with my awesome adorable friends, to join in the shoot on Melrose Place <3

Here are some behind the scenes photos from the video shoot! The finished video will make it’s debut at the end of May and be featured on Sephora.com and Sanrio.com! I’ll post up links to it as soon as it’s available!

Hello Kitty is a styling cat in the video…! She looked so cute with her face peeking out from the limo!

Hello Kitty and I!

The middle Hello Kitty ring was newly released by Sephora for the Big Pink Bow collection, and opens up to reveal cream perfume scent! It smells really fruity and cute, with hints of pineapple, flowers, & coconut!

You can buy the Hello Kitty perfume ring here!

Onch (of onchmovement.com) and I sharing a fruity snack haha.

All of my awesome cute friends! They’re all sporting the Hello Kitty x Chubby Bunny bow to boot! <3

Yay! Can’t wait for the video to come out!

For tons more photos from the New York Big Pink Bow opening and the behind-the-scenes pics from the video shoot, check out my Flickr set!

Stay tuned for more posts about my epic birthday weekend <3

A Trip To Sugarpill HQ

28 Mar

This past week, I scooted up to San Francisco to help out at Sugarpill Cosmetics headquarters as they begin revving up for IMATS (The big makeup convention in June!!! 3 MONTHS AWAY!! WEE!) and fulfilling their ever growing orders! While most days were filled with being busy inevitable having our clothes covered in makeup, we managed to tear ourselves away to have some tasty snacks and meet up with friends :)

For the most part, I dressed like a hobo and didn’t bother with makeup that week, but on Saturday, we knew we had plans to meet up  with Tess, so I made some effort into dressing up a bit…!

For outfit breakdown, you can click the picture to go to my Lookbook site :)

On Saturday, Amy, Yume, and I took a break from work and met up with Tess for dinner at Fenton’s! I was the only one who had never been there before, so I was pretty amped to get a gigantic sundae like the one they have in Up (which Fenton’s was featured in at the end of the movie!).

Look! It's Doug!

I refused to order any real food, and just went for the “Fenton’s Special” sundae. Amy was disgusted when I asked, “So, if the sundae has a brownie it, it counts as dinner, right?” THAT’S HOW I ROLL.

Behold. The Fenton's Special.

About 15 minutes in, I started getting a case of the "wobbly eyes." That feeling when you're so full, it feels like the food is pushing behind your eyeballs and makes everything look sillier than usual.

Everyone else was more level headed than I, ordering a normal dinner, then adding on cute little sundaes at the end :)

Amy's super chocolate chocolate sundae with nuts! She looks very engrossed in devouring her ice cream...!

Tess' almond ice cream, with an extra banana and chocolate syrup, so fancy! True Mee got the pure almond ice cream minus the banana and chocolate. Super yummy!

Later that night we picked up Tess’ boyfriend, Nate, and fought the urge to stay indoors and watch cat videos (On animal Planet! It’s a real show! Crazy!) and ventured outside in the  crazy rainy weather to nip out to an Irish pub for a bit.

Amy, True Mee, Nate, and Tess <3

This past Sunday, Amy had True Mee and I dress up in her Etsy clothes so she could take photos to upload to her site. I decided to make some more effort with my makeup this day and came up with this! All eye makeup listed is available at Sugarpill’s online shop!

Shadows
*Black brows and dusting on liner: Bullet Proof
*Shimmery Black: Stella
*Matte Purple: Poison Plum
*Shimmery Purple: Hysteric
*Matte white: Tako
Lashes: "Stormy"

Lips: "Anime" by OCC Liptars

It was really fun trying out a new look with my eyemakeup for once :) I usually tend to get stuck in ruts and wear the same style of makeup over and over but I’m doing my best to experiment!

Later that night, we had a nice dinner at a sushi joint nearby. Hooray for sushi and sake! We ate like the little piggies we are.. hehe.

Yum! All the sushi...!!!

The most delicious oyster!

We... totally ordered too much. Oh well!

I felt like a king of the seas! Had a great time helping up at Sugarpill, and know it won’t be my last trip up there, as IMATS is ever more quickly approaching…!

I’m excited and scared! haha… You can see Amy’s official Sugarpill posts from last year’s IMATS here: Day 0, Day 1, Day 2. There are some HILARIOUSLY AWESOME photos of all of us there from last year, sleep deprived and insane, so it’s totally worth the giggle to check out ;)

Till next time!

Chubby Bunny at “Harajuku Holiday!”

23 Feb

I love vending at Tune In Tokyo‘s monthly events whenever possible! The crowd there is super sweet, fun, and passionate about music and fashion, and I always end up leaving with new ideas and new friends :) Last night’s “Harajuku Holiday” themed event was no different, with lots of fun guests in attendance, plus a rad Lolita Fashion show, organized by my buddies Mandie and Oli <3

The night also boasted performances from May J. and Joe Inoue, the hosts of NHK World’s “J-MELO”, who both performed songs from their latest albums! I was also excited to be invited in as one of the judges for the “Fashion Forward Lolita” contest, which I judged with both May and Joe <3 Pics of the night below!

The Chubby Bunny booth! I've been marathon-ing "The Last Airbender" for the past 2 weeks while working and just finished the series yesterday, so I was inspired to do some hair loopies for the night! I'm also wearing my Rainbow Sparkle dress that I made for my fashion show at Sweet Streets last year <3

At the judging table! Myself, May J. and Joe Inoue (making a really hilarious face).

OOTD: You’re a Wonder, Wonder Woman.

5 Sep

Does anyone else remember the lyrics to the cheesy 70s Wonder Woman live action show? I sure do!

This is a quick little number I made for the DC Relaunch party, which was held at Meltdown Comics onAugust 30! I wrote an extensive post about it over at the Bubble Punch blog, if you’d like to hear the sheer geekiness of my mind pour out onto the internets.

I wanted to quickly post my DIY cosplay outfit over here, though! I made this primarily out of some pretty metallic gold vinyl I found laying around, backed with heavy duty interfacing to make it stiff. I used the power of my brain and folding paper to make the patterns for the eagle chest plate, headpiece, choker, armband, belt, and wristlets! I was even nerdy enough to carve in the lines of Wonder Woman’s “armor” into the vynil too.

For makeup, I used Sugarpill Cosmetic’s Royal Sugar and Goldilux to create a patriotic yet Amazonian Goddess-type look!

I mostly based this outfit off of Wonder Woman’s new uniform which was designed for the re-release of all of the DC comic #1′s, but since DC had trouble deciding on whether she would have pants or not until the last minute, I decided to make some stars out of white vinyl and tack them onto a blue skirt I had laying around, haha. I even got a bit of gold wrope to make my LASSO OF TRUTH!

Wonder Woman outfit, and a closeup of my gigantic face!

Check out that etching hehe. Okay, it's not THAT impressive, I was just pretty pleased with my geometry nerd-ery that went into making it completely center and evenly etched :D

The best part of my outfit, which is OBVIOUSLY THERE, is Wonder Woman’s invisible airplane.

Laugh & pat yourself on the back if you got that joke without having to click the link ;)

I usually post my Outfit of the Days to LookBook.NU, so add me there and Hype me and I’ll add you back!

Bunny Booths: Tune in Tokyo’s “Back to School” night at Royal/T

30 Aug

On Wednesday, August 24, 2011, I was excited to bring Chubby Bunny products to the Tune in Tokyo “Back to School” event at Royal/T cafe, in Culver City.

It was a great chance to motivate me to finish up some new products I had been thinking about for a while, and to debut my new shirts!

The Chubby Bunny booth! My awesome friend and on-call assistant Jenny was there to help, too! Thank you Jenny!

A quick look at some of the Dinosaur shirts! These are just samples that were for sale. The real deal will be available online in just a few weeks!

Modeling the dino shirts! The Tune In Tokyo crew were taking "class photos" during the event. How cute! Photo by Tune In Tokyo.

OOTD: Ducky Love

25 Aug

Today’s Outfit Of the Day is brought to you by the color YELLOW and the mighty DUCK, Haha. I had mentioned before that I was wondering if Nadia Harajuku’s famous platform sneakers were an exclusive item or not, but well… they’re not! At Nadia they only offer them in Black, White, and red, but I found these cuties in a fantastic yellow! I snagged these cute guys off of eBay by searching for “Platform sneakers.” It’s that easy! Crazy Ducky shirt is from Korea <3

[EDIT: Oops so apparently on LookBook.NU you can only have a max of 3 shots per image sooo they deleted this entry haha OH WELL their loss!]

I usually post my Outfit of the Days to LookBook.NU, so add me there and Hype me and I’ll add you back!

Japan Day 7: Asobisystem presents “Harajuku Kawaii” event + peek at PARCO’s Bearbricks’ Exhibit

16 Aug

Friday, July 29th was insanity in a bottle.

Caro and I hopped off the bullet train, made it to our hotel room, and then managed to get ready and back out the door by 4pm-ish!

The Harajuku Kawaii event was being held in honor of model agency Asobisystem‘s 4th Anniversary, featuring fashion shows, musical performances, and a talk with 6%DOKIDOKI‘s Sebastian and renowned photographer Yasumasa Yonehara (AKA “Yone”).

Sebastian had been kind enough to invite us as VIP guests to the event, so we got to feel kinda fancy and go backstage and watch all the madness go down. We also go to meet up with the super hardworking Kira, who is the main photographer for Tokyofashion.com, and a total sweetheart. He had to get to work shooting photos down on the main floor, but Caro and I were able to relax in the VIP balcony area where we could watch the show from above.

View from the balcony area.

Someone stopped me for a "street" fashion snap, too :) Photo by ChangeFashion.net!

The first set of the fashion show portion were brands Spinns Harajuku, Grimoire, and galaxxxy.

Super fun coordinates from SPINNS Harajuku (they also have a branch in Osaka too <3). Photo courtsey of Kira of Tokyofashion.com

Models from the first set of the fashion show take their bows/end walk.

After the first portion, bands Astro and Ram Rider performed on stage.

Astro performed a short set of slightly beachy-hip hop beats.

Ram Rider performed electro tunes, but for some reason, it was mostly covers of other songs electronified. The style of music they chose to cover ranged from Daft Punk (cool, appropriate) to Brazilian chanting music (uhmm what?).

But I can fogive their musical confusion because they have LIGHT UP SUITS. Hello, Tron Band!

After this performance, there was a short fashion show comprised of student work under the name “Replicant,” which.. I didn’t get any great photos of so I’ll just skip over that quickly. After that, 6%DOKIDOKI’s show was up, and it was definitely the most energetic performance of the night!

It was definitely a full on performance combined with fashion show, featuring their two main models, Yuka and Vanii, and German, French, and Dutch models dancing in chorus with them.

Vanii started off the show with a rough and tumble attitude and snarky glare at the crowd. I LOVE this photo of her! Taken by Kira of Tokyofashion.com, of course!

Yuka does a little dance for the crowd.

All the while, she's sporting this adorable bunny ear/antennae hairdo! Photo courtesy of Kira of Tokyofashion.com.

And here’s a quick video I shot so you can get a feel for how insane it got with the dancing and the.. giant rabbit costumed person who came out later! So amazing!

After the 6%DOKIDOKI show, a panel of guests came out to talk about the origins of Harajuku street fashion and what it’s developed into today. Of note, panelists included 6%’s Sebastian, Photographer Yone, and musician and model Kyaari Pamyupamyu (also known as “Carrie”). Yone is quite famous for his fashion magazine editing and photography, the founding of CexWork, his own “checki” instax camera design, and also his blog he does for Hypebeast. Kyaari, if you’ve somehow managed to NOT hear of her by now, is the newest, hottest thing in Japanese pop music, having made a real hit with her debut single “PonPonPon.” It’s goddamn catchy, is what it is.

The full panel of guests for the talk show.

After the talk show, we went backstage to congratulate everyone, and take some photos! If you’d like to see lots of photos from backstage and more photos of the fashion show itself, make sure to check out Tokyofashion.com’s exclusive coverage in their special 6%DOKIDOKI feature here!

Tokyofashion.com photographer, Kira, snaps the 6%DOKIDOKI models after the show.

Kira also took this fabulously classy photo of Sebastian and I right after that, haha.

Okay, so right after this was a little intermission of sorts. We were invited to go with some of the DOKIDOKI crew to go to the VIP opening party for the Bearbricks exhibit at the PARCO department store in Shibuya, but the event at Harajuku Kawaii was still ongoing! So we nipped out for a quick trip to Parco with the staff and saw some really cool Bearbricks stuff!

It was raining outside so I didn’t get a shot of the GIANT Bearbricks out front, but here is a photo from Tokyofashion.com that they shot a few days prior:

Giant Bearbricks!

There was an insane line to get into the VIP party, and.. it was mostly bros! haha. Weirdly enough, we bumped into people we knew there, such as Mamy and another of Caro’s friends! I even saw Hello Kitty Mama (Yuko Yamaguchi) there, too!

A Rilakkuma and Bearbrick collaboration piece.

Gatachapin Bearbrick!

The gallery was MEGA CROWDED!

Yuka poses next to the 6%DOKIDOKI collaboration Bearbrick inside the case.

Caro and I even posed next to a REAL MOVING BEARBRICK MASCOT! It was sort of terrifying because we didn't know there was a person in it until it started moving.... EEEEK SCARY WHERE ARE ITS EYESSS!

We were there for maybe.. 15 to 20 minutes. Then we were whisked away again to see the end of the Harajuku Kawaii event! Unfortunately, we missed Kyaari’s performance, buuut thanks to my buddies at Tokyofashion, at least I can show you a quick pic of it! It looks like her skirt is American Apparel?

A collage of Kyaari's first live performance! Photo courtesy of Tokyofashion.com

At the very end of the event, the organizers had all the models and fans line up close to the stage and do a cute photo op/cheer to celebrate Asobisystem’s Anniversary. Check out how cute this video I took is… first they practice, then they do it FOR REALS! Cameo of my face.

You can take a gander at some of the models who were involved in this show, mostly famous bloggers and shop girls from around Tokyo, and aspiring models.

After this, many things happened, including having a quick bite with Valerie and her husband, going to the official after party at Club Asia, and having late night izakaya times with the 6%DOKIDOKI crew well into the night. We had to taxi it back to the hotel around 3am, but we made it there alive! WHOO!

Many, many more photos that I did not post on this blog are located on my Flickr towards the bottom, so make sure to check it out!

Of course, I was not able to get photos of every single brand and musical performance since we were running around so much, so please take a look at these MUCH MORE DETAILED reports over at TokyoFashion.com and more photos at ChangeFashion.

The Gamer In Me is the Gamer In You.

12 Aug

A little break from all of my Japan posts to bring you this quick update on a fun little adventure I had yesterday!

Yesterday, August 11, I hopped on over to the SUPER iam8bit art exhibition opening party with some of my pals and relished in my nerdy past. The show focused on retro 80′s video games and culture, exhibiting fine art, installations, a giant Galaga arcade cabinet, live paintings, and rad chip music throughout the night.

I’ve actually done a rather thorough event recap post over at Bubble Punch, so definitely check it out if you’re interested about details on the artwork and performances!

I was excited to go to this opening since 1) I was a huge video game nerd in my youth and love the nostalgia of this kinda stuff, 2) a bunch of my friends had pieces of work in the show or were attending 3) I was looking for an excuse to make these dumb 8bit glasses for a while!

Here’s a quick rundown of my outfit for the night:

Dress by Spank!, shoes by B by Aperire, tights by American Apparel, "Chubby Bunny" necklace by Cicely Margo, yellow ghost necklace by CocoLulu (it's flipped around in this pic, but you can see it better 2 pics down).

Photo by Shannon Cottrell! 8bit glasses are DIY by gluing felt onto some old glasses I had laying around, and adding stars and pompoms to them!

Back of my head! All hairpieces (except for the star clips) seen here are from my brand, available at http://www.iamchubbybunny.com. You can also see the awesome print on my Spank! dress a little better here, too!

At the begninng of the night I looked pretty stupid because I thought you could step on the controls and it would move stuff on the projection screen. Really it was just a giant vinyl sticker and I am a dummy, haha.

Here's the projection! Fans could play at a refurbished Galaga machine and everyone who played got a free t-shirt! The little red shell on the floor there is scuttling along all by itself because it's attached to a Roomba vacuum! Isn't that awesome??

Will tried it out, too! hehe he looks so cute here <3

This is a pretty dang cute pic of Shannon!! <3 I like taking stalker photos of her at events because she's never allowed to be IN the photos she takes for LAWeekly so I make sure to take a bunch and put them up on my website to "make up for it" AKA be a creeper!!

This was pretty rad! "8-Bit Yourself!" A camera makes you into little shapes on screen!

Like so! I was pretty entertained by this thing, even though no one else seemed to be. It was always empty in front of it so every time I walked by I would run around in circles in front of it and jump up and down to see my shape moving on screen. Yes, I am 5 years old. Left to right are Will, me, and Caro in the background haha.

How cute is this DIY photo area? You could slide little panels in to create whatever retro game character you wanted and stick your head, torso, or legs in haha. I like how Toadstool looks super pissed in this illustration.

We had a great time, but had to Cinderella-it out of there around 9:30PM because Will had to go to work early the next day and I had a TON of work to do (this morning!) also! Had a really rad time and was happy to see some old friends and meet new ones too! Keep in touch cool peeps!

Japan Day 3: Harajuku Time Sales, Grimoire Store Tour, & SPANK! store tour!

9 Aug

Day 3 for me was Monday, July 25, and definitely the worst jetlag I experienced on the entire trip. Weirdly enough, I didn’t feel tired at all on Sunday, since it was a constant GO GO GO battle for us, but I had small bursts of downtime on Monday which made me almost fall asleep in the weirdest places.

I woke up early and headed out before Caro for some meetings for work-related fun times. Later on, I was able to grab lunch with 6%DOKIDOKI‘s Sebastian and Mika, his assistant, and catch up on things. Lunch was delish!

Steamed pork, with ponzu dipping sauce. SO DELICIOUS and summery!

Casual Sebastian! And Mika (right) during lunch.

After that I scooted over to the Harajuku 6%DOKIDOKI shop again to say hello to my buddies there and pick up a few cute things I had spotted the day before but didn’t have time to get. I like that they have a good range of prices, from some select goods that are cute and small, like little rings for 800yen, to their custom made clothing which is.. well, a little out of my range at the moment, hehe. I did a quick pic with Yuka and Vani after that, maybe you can see the sleepiness in my face? haha.

Yuka's (left) shoes are SO KILLER! She said she got them off eBay..! I'm looking a little derpy here, but at least my girls' is cute! Oh yeah, I made my skirt, too! Hard to see, but there are a bunch of hearts fluttering off of it heh..

Caro was busy in a different part of town, so I took the opportunity to poke around my old haunts in Harajuku and dip into some of the craziness that is the Japan Summer Sales (the last day of which, for a lot of stores, was this day). Summer Sales usually start the Saturday before the Obon vacation, which is good timing for the general public because 1) school kids get off for summer vacation right around then so they have free time to buy things and 2) the general public can buy nice cute things to wear during their 1 to 2 week long Obon summer vacation.

I went to a bunch of smaller stores, but the biggest hoo-ha in the area was definitely the huge sales going on at LaForet, the big fashion department store on the corner of Omotesando crossing.

The crowds just outside the department store. I remember sitting down on a bench for a second, finishing a lemonade, and taking a deep breath before plunging into the darkness known as SUMMER SALES.

So, not only are most products in the stores on a huge price cut- i was seeing up to 80% discounts! – but there is also the demon known as the TIME SALE in Japan, where for a limited time, usually 30 minutes to an hour, there’s an ADDITIONAL discount on top of what’s already advertised. Once the girls start screaming “TAIMUUU SEEEE RU,” customers begin to RUN, not walk, into the department advertsing the discount, and push and pull each other around until they grab their desired items and hop into line. It’s the most unruly I’ve really ever seen J-peeps, and it’s not even THAT bad.. just… CROWDED.

Inside the madness, the great terror known as the TIME SALE begins.

I did, in case you were wondering, pick up some AMAZINGLY cheap things from these time sales. I believe I got:
2 necklaces: 1000yen
1 pair jeans from World Wide Love!: 1000 yen (used to be 8400yen!)
1 scary looking USB mouse from Swimmer: 800Yen (previously 1500yen)

I was on kind of a tight budget while in Japan, so being able to buy gifts for people or things I needed for 1,000yen or less was pretty awesome.
I love having an easily concealable camera so I can take ninja photos of things I really like, but don’t feel like buying. Window shopping is insanely satisfying for me.

Here are some other random photos I took while putzing around Harajuku:

Panda pockets, my friends. It's a thing, and I love it.

Jam pants. They're a thing. Tell your friends. I really wanted a pair of these cray things but.. yeah.. just too crazy.

An Evangelion + Lotteria (a fast food burger chain) campaign. Uhmm. What the hell? Why not, I guess... haha.

Right around the time I was pondering whether to get an Evangelion burger, I got a text from Caro to meet her in Shibuya to meet some of her friends and take photos of Grimoire. I scooted over there and met up with Caro and her friend Valerie Fujita, who is a French photographer who recently began shooting in Japan about a year ago. Valerie was a total sweetheart, and I’m glad to have had time to hang out with her. Valerie was to shoot some photos of girls working in the Grimoire store.

Grimoire is recognized as one of the premiere brands that brought Dolly-kei fashion to Japan (and is often confused for Mori-girl fashion) that stocks unique vintage items from Europe and the US, and creates original accessories and remade items in their store. What is so amazing about this store, however, may not be the products themselves, but the atmosphere of the decor in the store itself. Grimoire is a store that has taken great pains to create a magical forest wonderland that absorbs you and makes you forget about the outside world when you enter their doors. Simply shopping in the store is a cathartic experience, and I can see why so many girls flock to their two branches in Shibuya. There’s a more complete article about Grimoire and its founders here on TokyoFashion.com!

Their second, and larger location, in Shibuya.

Really great displays for the clothing, so romantic!

Superfluous pic of me in one of their gorgeous mirrors they use for the dressing area

Proper shot of the dressing area. These magnificentlyheavy curtains come down when you untie the super fancy rope tassels

Can you say LUSH? Our TASSELS got TASSELS in 'em yo!

In any given corner you can see cute vintage shoes and cute vintage.. squirrels playing the piano with an acorn. OBVIOUSLY. This is super cute.

More beautiful displays

Some of the cute original accessories made by the Grimoire staff. These are pretty flowers-in-flowers with small gears or antique keys attached to them to make hair fascinators.

The awesome shop staff there were SO friendly!! Left to Right: Eeek.. can't remember her name, Caro, Kaori, myself, and Valrie Fujita.

After that we hoofed it over to Koenji again (YAY!) to meet up with Tavuchi and so that I could finally see the SPANK! store! I am a terrible person and have not actually BEEN to a SPANK! location before! Currently there are 2 locations, one in Shibuya, called “Spank me!” and one in Koenji, if you ever wanna check it out :)

A quick intermission… this is a pic of a weird bilboard on the train platform… WHATTTT?

Now get ready for a completely different sort of store tour! SPANK! is located in a cool shoutengai (covered shopping street) in Koenji, about a quick 3 minute walk from the station, and up a small flight of stairs. When you open the door, you’ll hear the store playing cute pop punk music of Tavuchi’s choosing, and often, you’ll hear Mademoiselle Yulia’s tracks playing, as Yulia and Tavuchi are good friends from way back (so cute!)

Get ready for the visual candy!

I think this might have been Valerie's first time at this location, so she was pretty pumped hehe.

SO CUTE! I love their handmade penguin guys! <3

Spank's Look is VERY DIY.. I love it! It's so cute and playful!"

Hello Barbie salon head!!

Adorable earrings, necklaces and barettes are hand made and one of a kind!

All of these vintage shoes... WANT!

One wall space decorated to look like a SPANK! bedroom! I love how Tavuchi likes to throw wigs on top of th enecks of dressforms.. it's so cute yet weird!

Unicorns, rainbows, stars, and cute girls. LOVE IT, LIVE IT!

Hey hey! The dress I wanted from way back!! I TOTES bought this (my only big purchase this entire trip!) to show my Spank love and, DUH wear a unicorn with sunglasses on it. I looove it!

Tavuchi met up with us shortly after the crazy photo/shopping spree we did in SPANK! and we hopped down to Baby King Kitchen!
This restaurant is really cute, because it 1) caters to young children (there are crayons and kids books, and big benches/couches so you can sit with your little ones, and a baby swing!! There’s a little bell to ring at the bottom of the stairs too so the staff can help you carry up strollers) and 2) makes really cute kids cafeteria-style food for ADULTS too! Whee! We met Tavuchi and her friend Toko there (who co-runs the store “Hikari” in Koenji) and, as my jetlag pulled into full gear, made small talk while I slumped into the corner of the couch and started to fall asleep :( I SUCK AT EVERYTHING OH GOD! I felt SO BAD because we were supposed to hang out all night this night and I totally died! the heat and the jetlag were too much for me :( Lame! At least I was able to hang out with everyone for a bit and eat the yummy food though <3

We are trying to be robots. AWESOME ROBOTS. Tavuchi (left) and me (right)

Caro and Toko!

The Princess Set! Caro and I both got one, and it came with a free pin! We got to pick out of a box of pins hehe so cute <3

Tavuchi ordered the Baby Pudding Set... so cute =D I love how there're faces on everything!

Today was the must jetlagged/sleepy day I had, unfortunately, BUT! I was able to shake it for pretty much the rest of the trip. We had a wonderful time hanging out and meeting new friends this day!  It was only about half work related which was good, too!

I’ll do my best to continue updating about my Japan trip!

For now…!

SPANK!'s "closed" sign is even adorbale!
