Hello Kitty’s “Big Pink Bow” promo video w/ Sephora & Chubby Bunny!

31 May

A few weeks ago, I updated about a fun promotional video that I shot with Sephora and Hello Kitty! Well, the video is finally live and online!

Myself and my friends posed as Hello Kitty “fans” in the video, greeting her on the “pink” carpet, and pawing through her hotel boudoir as Hello Kitty “superfans!” The shoot was really fun and the video is so cute! I make a verry brief appearance in the video.. see if you can find me! haha.

The dress worn by Hello Kitty was hand made by myself, as well as all of the pink Hello Kitty x Chubby Bunny Bows worn by all of the girls in the video! As always, they can be purchased at www.iamchubbybunny.com !

Enough chatter! Check out the cute video below!

I also did some screen caps of all the cute moments from the video! You can see all of them in the Flickr set here

My Glamorous Pony: Opening night of “My Little Pony Project: Los Angeles”

15 May

On Saturday, May 5th, the long awaited opening for the “My Little Pony Night Out” finally arrived! Sweet Streets curated the show for Hasbro and Mighty Fine which drew in hundreds of fans from all over! The event was tailored to My Little Pony crowds of old and new! Giant blank Ponies were sent out to artists all over the world to customize and sell for this show. Tons of my artist friends had pieces in the show, so I was super amped to see what they had come up with!

I went to the gallery on the Thursday before the opening to help with setup and go to clean pony butts and comb pony hair all afternoon. The ponies had been shipped in from all over the world, so they needed proper styling help and readjusting once they were situated on their pony pedestals. (Every word I am typing is getting more and more surreal to me as I go along, haha.) It was totally amazing.

Combing manes. No big deal.

Some photos of the AMAZING ponies that artists had customized. These pictures don’t even do them justice.

That afternoon we also stuffed some giftbags for the press night they were holding on Friday. These bags are normally available via Mightyfine.com’s site when you purchase a t-shirt. They’re enormous and so cute! Love that engineer-looking Rainbow Dash!

I’ve been waiting for a chance to do a fancy Princess Celestia cosplay ever since I started watching the Friendship is Magic version of My Little Pony, and this event was totally the perfect opportunity for it! So, I had been working my little hands off on my Gatsby dress, as well as the Hello Kitty Sephora dress, so making time for this dress was pretty stressful towards the end there..! It was my first time working with such gauzy chiffon material (and actually hemming it.. usually I’m lazy and just double it up or burn it haha), so it was a bit tricky at first but I got it!

Hello Kitty’s “Big Pink Bow” Collection at Sephora w/Chubby Bunny!

10 May

It’s been an exciting Hello Kitty-filled weekend! In addition to it being my birthday (more on that later!) the debut of my latest Hello Kitty creation occurred in New York on May 4th, for Hello Kitty’s Big Pink Bow collection launch event with Sephora!

For the event, I collaborated with Sanrio to make an adorable polka dot dress with hot pink accents, and a pop of gold jewelry for Ms. Kitty as well as provide a few hundred pink Hello Kitty x Chubby Bunny headband bows for Sephora models to wear while promoting the launch! Megan Hilty (of NBC’s SMASH) even joined in the fun at the event.

The pink puffy bows are available for purchase on my site at www.iamchubbybunny.com!

Girls wearing the Hello Kitty x Chubby Bunny bow and riding Hello Kitty bicycles cruised around New York City, promoting the Big Pink Bow event at Sephora! How cute are they?

On Tuesday, May 8th, Hello Kitty traveled back to Los Angeles to do a promotional video for Sephora’s Big Pink Bow collection, and I was invited, along with my awesome adorable friends, to join in the shoot on Melrose Place <3

Here are some behind the scenes photos from the video shoot! The finished video will make it’s debut at the end of May and be featured on Sephora.com and Sanrio.com! I’ll post up links to it as soon as it’s available!

Hello Kitty is a styling cat in the video…! She looked so cute with her face peeking out from the limo!

Hello Kitty and I!

The middle Hello Kitty ring was newly released by Sephora for the Big Pink Bow collection, and opens up to reveal cream perfume scent! It smells really fruity and cute, with hints of pineapple, flowers, & coconut!

You can buy the Hello Kitty perfume ring here!

Craft Box: May Costume Madness: Hello Kitty, My Little Pony, Great Gatsby!

1 May

I’ve been working super hard these past couple of weeks on 3 projects at once!

After this week I’ll be able to do a full reveal on everything, but for now… some sneak peeks <3

I’m doing another Hello Kitty mascot costume for an upcoming launch somewhere special this month….. It’s the first time I’ve made jewelry for Ms. Kitty, too!

Purr-ly and pretty for Ms. Kitty, hehe.

I am also very excited about the My Little Pony Project, which I will be helping out with a little bit, and am working on an epic Princess Celestia outfit to wear to the opening event! I hope to see all of you guys there <3

Princess Celestia character that I'm taking inspiration from for my outfit!

Pretty and soft materials I'm prepping for my outfit!

And of course, at the end of this week, my BIRTHDAY will be arriving! I will be turning the big 30, so I’m doing a “Great Gatsby”-themed birthday party, to celebrate the end of my “roaring 20s”, so to speak! I even made a stupid little image for it, haha.

I was able to finish up this EPIC dress to wear for my birthday last week! Just have to work on the accessories now!

Can’t wait to share final photos of all of my projects with everyone! I just had to post a few progress photos because I am SUPER excited for this week and these projects!!!

Shopping Secrets: Daiso: Japan Cute in LA!

4 Apr

When I lived in Japan, I always LOVED going to the 100yen shops and scoring awesome cute things to decorate my home and cheap treats to pickup when I was strapped for cash.

My secret for bargain cuteness, the major chain store of 100yen stores has finally come to Los Angeles! (There are already other locations in the US, so if you live near one, you should go!) It opened quite recently, so I made some time to nip down and stock up on cute and cheap items! There are home goods, beauty items, stationary, snacks, clothing, toys, and more at this enormous Daiso. The price for ALMOST everything in the store is $1.50, with a few items being above that, but don’t worry, they’re clearly marked!

Get ready for a photo explosion of cuteness from Japan!

Lashes galore! All for $1.50 a pack!

Cute false eyelash cases! JUST what I've been looking for!

Cute headband ears in different colors and animals! Bunnies, bears, dogs, bees, sheep, pigs, lions, and lots more!

By Hook or by Crook: “Hookers” Opening Night at Corey Helford Gallery

2 Apr

On March 31, Natalia Fabia‘s group curated show “Hookers,” presented at the Corey Helford Gallery celebrated their opening night!

Natalia is an awesome lady, and amazing oil painter that I met at a party many moons ago, and she asked myself and Yume to pose for one of her paintings <3. The theme for this night’s exhibition was “Hookers,” a word that Natalia always uses to describe women who are strong, independent, and stylish, using it in a positive sense to convey modern feminine beauty.

The show featured 22 artists’ rendition of “Hookers,” and the opening night was jammed packed with awesome art and colorful people!

March into Spring: Fashion shows, Mademoiselle Yulia, Cherry Blossoms

21 Mar

March is always a funny month. The weather change always brings about a change in people, attitudes, environment, jobs, living situations, temperament.. you name it. Maybe it’s just that those things are always changing, but I only ever notice it in March?

March has been pretty good to me, so far thought! It’s been a busy month, so I wanted to quickly share some photos of fun things that have happened this month!

My co-owned event company Bubble Punch, threw a pretty wicked fashion show at “Japan. Endless Discovery” on March 10, an event marking the 1 year anniversary of the northern Japan earthquake. The show itself was really fun, REALLY big (30+ models!) and had a great turnout.

All of our lovely models.

I’m hidden behind the models trying to get a microphone in this photo, haha. You can see more photos and video from the event here!

The same weekend, my friend Yulia (Better known as Mademoiselle Yulia) was in town, spinning for Joyrich at a party they were hosting at Drai’s Hollywood. Tavuchi (owner of SPANK!) introduced us at a party when I was in Tokyo last summer, so it was great to see her and her boyfriend at the event. I actually ended up going to this event by myself (kind of rare!) last minute, and was pretty amped when I ran into a bunch of my friends just hanging out! Sweet!

Drai's was pretty packed for a Sunday night!

Yulia looking flawless as ever spinning her set at around 1AM.

Probably the worst photo of myself I'll ever post here, haha. But look at how happy we are! L to R, TJ, Onch, Martina, Myself, and in the front is Horacio.

Fun times!

Earlier that day (yeah, totally not posting anything in chronological order here), I went up to Lake Balboa Park for a Cherry Blossom picnic my awesome friend Sheyne was hosting! It was a great way to relax after a full day of event coordinating.  The blooms that weekend weren’t superb, but we were set up next to all the nicely flowering trees and had a good time stuffing ourselves with food and booze <3

Cherry blossom trees by the lake

So much food. Check out the medieval knife someone brought for cutting bread...! =D

My boyfriend Will, in the ultimate zen pose: "Sun Blocking Sleep."

Have a great March and relax.. because.. SPRING IS COMING! =D

Chubby Bunny at “Harajuku Holiday!”

23 Feb

I love vending at Tune In Tokyo‘s monthly events whenever possible! The crowd there is super sweet, fun, and passionate about music and fashion, and I always end up leaving with new ideas and new friends :) Last night’s “Harajuku Holiday” themed event was no different, with lots of fun guests in attendance, plus a rad Lolita Fashion show, organized by my buddies Mandie and Oli <3

The night also boasted performances from May J. and Joe Inoue, the hosts of NHK World’s “J-MELO”, who both performed songs from their latest albums! I was also excited to be invited in as one of the judges for the “Fashion Forward Lolita” contest, which I judged with both May and Joe <3 Pics of the night below!

The Chubby Bunny booth! I've been marathon-ing "The Last Airbender" for the past 2 weeks while working and just finished the series yesterday, so I was inspired to do some hair loopies for the night! I'm also wearing my Rainbow Sparkle dress that I made for my fashion show at Sweet Streets last year <3

At the judging table! Myself, May J. and Joe Inoue (making a really hilarious face).

Bunny Cowgirl! @ Sunset Ranch Hollywood Stables

22 Feb

Living in Los Angeles, you’d think there wouldn’t be much opportunity to poke about in nature, but it’s not true at all! There are tons of parks, lakes, beaches, and rough terrain ripe for exploring just a few minutes from the urban sprawl of LA, it’s just that most people don’t know about it, or are too lazy to go!

Griffith Park is the largest park located within a major city area, stretching from Los Feliz, over the valley and down into Burbank/Glendale. Lots of tourists drive up the dusty path on Beachwood Drive to take a short hike to the Hollywood sign, but did you know you can do this same trip on… HORSES???

My boyfriend Will took me out for a 2 hour horseback ride through Griffith Park as a present for Valentine’s Day (yes, I know at this point I’ve written 3 posts about VDay! Last one, I promise)! We went to Sunset Ranch Hollywood Stables for a lovely trek through atop our beautiful and super cute horsies for some lovely scenery, and fun times with our guide! Horseback rides are done on a first come first serve basis from 9am until about 4pm, or until the horses get tired, so it’s best to head up early!

We got there right at 9am, so we managed to get our own private ride with a guide! Check out the beautiful scenery below!

They made a miniature Hollywood sign right near the stables, haha. So cute.

Saddling up the horses.

So many horse butts... hehe.

I was riding behind Will for most of the trip, so a lot of my photos are of his back.. and his horse's.. hehe. Will's horse's name was Mustard! Apparently Mustard really loves to roll around in the mud at night, so he was a little dirty that morning, haha.

Event Report: Tune in Tokyo’s: Akihabara Winter Wonderland w/Chubby Bunny!

23 Dec

2 days ago I was excited to be invited back to Tune in Tokyo‘s monthly event they host at Royal/T Cafe. This time, the theme was “Akihabara Winter Wonderland,” which included having guests dress up in Cosplay costumes from anime, manga, video games, or just winter-themed!

The Chubby Bunny booth at the event

I had a blast dressing up as Santa’s little helper and hanging out with the great people who work and visited the event! There were about 300 guests in attendance that night partying in the holiday spirit! It was great!

OH MY GOD IT'S SANTAAAAAAAA! This couple was so cute, and passed out little toys to everyone who took photos with them! Best costume ever!

Thanks to LA Weekly for this pic of my outfit :) (And the new Chubby Bunny stickers!)

I didn’t take too many photos but you can see lots more here!
