A Trip To Sugarpill HQ

28 Mar

This past week, I scooted up to San Francisco to help out at Sugarpill Cosmetics headquarters as they begin revving up for IMATS (The big makeup convention in June!!! 3 MONTHS AWAY!! WEE!) and fulfilling their ever growing orders! While most days were filled with being busy inevitable having our clothes covered in makeup, we managed to tear ourselves away to have some tasty snacks and meet up with friends :)

For the most part, I dressed like a hobo and didn’t bother with makeup that week, but on Saturday, we knew we had plans to meet up  with Tess, so I made some effort into dressing up a bit…!

For outfit breakdown, you can click the picture to go to my Lookbook site :)

On Saturday, Amy, Yume, and I took a break from work and met up with Tess for dinner at Fenton’s! I was the only one who had never been there before, so I was pretty amped to get a gigantic sundae like the one they have in Up (which Fenton’s was featured in at the end of the movie!).

Look! It's Doug!

I refused to order any real food, and just went for the “Fenton’s Special” sundae. Amy was disgusted when I asked, “So, if the sundae has a brownie it, it counts as dinner, right?” THAT’S HOW I ROLL.

Behold. The Fenton's Special.

About 15 minutes in, I started getting a case of the "wobbly eyes." That feeling when you're so full, it feels like the food is pushing behind your eyeballs and makes everything look sillier than usual.

Everyone else was more level headed than I, ordering a normal dinner, then adding on cute little sundaes at the end :)

Amy's super chocolate chocolate sundae with nuts! She looks very engrossed in devouring her ice cream...!

Tess' almond ice cream, with an extra banana and chocolate syrup, so fancy! True Mee got the pure almond ice cream minus the banana and chocolate. Super yummy!

Later that night we picked up Tess’ boyfriend, Nate, and fought the urge to stay indoors and watch cat videos (On animal Planet! It’s a real show! Crazy!) and ventured outside in the  crazy rainy weather to nip out to an Irish pub for a bit.

Amy, True Mee, Nate, and Tess <3

This past Sunday, Amy had True Mee and I dress up in her Etsy clothes so she could take photos to upload to her site. I decided to make some more effort with my makeup this day and came up with this! All eye makeup listed is available at Sugarpill’s online shop!

Shadows
*Black brows and dusting on liner: Bullet Proof
*Shimmery Black: Stella
*Matte Purple: Poison Plum
*Shimmery Purple: Hysteric
*Matte white: Tako
Lashes: "Stormy"

Lips: "Anime" by OCC Liptars

It was really fun trying out a new look with my eyemakeup for once :) I usually tend to get stuck in ruts and wear the same style of makeup over and over but I’m doing my best to experiment!

Later that night, we had a nice dinner at a sushi joint nearby. Hooray for sushi and sake! We ate like the little piggies we are.. hehe.

Yum! All the sushi...!!!

The most delicious oyster!

We... totally ordered too much. Oh well!

I felt like a king of the seas! Had a great time helping up at Sugarpill, and know it won’t be my last trip up there, as IMATS is ever more quickly approaching…!

I’m excited and scared! haha… You can see Amy’s official Sugarpill posts from last year’s IMATS here: Day 0, Day 1, Day 2. There are some HILARIOUSLY AWESOME photos of all of us there from last year, sleep deprived and insane, so it’s totally worth the giggle to check out ;)

Till next time!

March into Spring: Fashion shows, Mademoiselle Yulia, Cherry Blossoms

21 Mar

March is always a funny month. The weather change always brings about a change in people, attitudes, environment, jobs, living situations, temperament.. you name it. Maybe it’s just that those things are always changing, but I only ever notice it in March?

March has been pretty good to me, so far thought! It’s been a busy month, so I wanted to quickly share some photos of fun things that have happened this month!

My co-owned event company Bubble Punch, threw a pretty wicked fashion show at “Japan. Endless Discovery” on March 10, an event marking the 1 year anniversary of the northern Japan earthquake. The show itself was really fun, REALLY big (30+ models!) and had a great turnout.

All of our lovely models.

I’m hidden behind the models trying to get a microphone in this photo, haha. You can see more photos and video from the event here!

The same weekend, my friend Yulia (Better known as Mademoiselle Yulia) was in town, spinning for Joyrich at a party they were hosting at Drai’s Hollywood. Tavuchi (owner of SPANK!) introduced us at a party when I was in Tokyo last summer, so it was great to see her and her boyfriend at the event. I actually ended up going to this event by myself (kind of rare!) last minute, and was pretty amped when I ran into a bunch of my friends just hanging out! Sweet!

Drai's was pretty packed for a Sunday night!

Yulia looking flawless as ever spinning her set at around 1AM.

Probably the worst photo of myself I'll ever post here, haha. But look at how happy we are! L to R, TJ, Onch, Martina, Myself, and in the front is Horacio.

Fun times!

Earlier that day (yeah, totally not posting anything in chronological order here), I went up to Lake Balboa Park for a Cherry Blossom picnic my awesome friend Sheyne was hosting! It was a great way to relax after a full day of event coordinating.  The blooms that weekend weren’t superb, but we were set up next to all the nicely flowering trees and had a good time stuffing ourselves with food and booze <3

Cherry blossom trees by the lake

So much food. Check out the medieval knife someone brought for cutting bread...! =D

My boyfriend Will, in the ultimate zen pose: "Sun Blocking Sleep."

Have a great March and relax.. because.. SPRING IS COMING! =D

Craft Box: Lumpy Space Princess Cosplay

19 Mar

This past weekend I attended Wondercon over in Anaheim for some wonderfully nerdy fun! I was mainly excited because on Saturday, there was an Adventure Time panel featuring creator Pendleton Ward, Finn’s voice actor Jeremy Shada, and a bunch of the animators, directors, and storyboarders who make that awesome magic happen.

I was originally planning a fairly complex Pancake Princess costume, but was so swamped the week before, I opted for an easy version of my favorite character, Lumpy Space Princess (or LSP for short)!

In the series she’s a big ‘ol lump of floating purple mass, so I just took notes on her purple puffiness, her gold star, and her valley girl tacky attitude and went to town! She talks about the “weekly Promcoming Dance,” in her first episode “Trouble in Lumpy Space” (click to watch), so I ran with that, and made myself LUMPY SPACE HIGH PROMCOMING QUEEN! haha. (Gratuitous Nerd Note: I would also like to add that Pendleton Ward tweeted at me, saying he liked my LSP outfit. kekekek. #nerdingouttttt)

All dressed up as Lumpy Space Princess! Puffy face in photos is MANDATORY!

Hair and makeup! Made a "stencil" using a decorative paper punch on a label sticker, then sticking it to my eye and putting shadow on for the "lumpy bubble" effect!

Photos of how I made the outfit, accessories, and hair, plus some fun snaps from Wondercon after the jump!
